Andrew Heben has a background in urban planning and is the author of Tent City Urbanism: From Self-Organized Camps to Tiny House Villages. Many of the ideas within his book have since been put into action through the co-founding of SquareOne Villages, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating self-managed communities of cost-effective tiny homes for people in need of housing.

As SquareOne's project director, Andrew has overseen the development of two distinct models for bridging the gap between the street and conventional housing options — Opportunity Village (transitional housing) and Emerald Village (affordable housing). In an effort to help spread this collaborative, community-based housing model, he has also created the  Village TOOLBOX and the Village Collaborative.
